Five Summer Marketing Ideas

Suggestions to increase summer revenue for any business.

Most successful marketing campaigns are seasonal, and summer lends itself to fun ways to promote your product or service and attract new customers. Here are five summertime promotional suggestions that can heat up sales (for any business) and generate enough momentum for the cold winter months ahead:

  1. Offer a new product or service! Timing a new service or product launch with summer holiday or back-to-school sale can attract new business and draw fresh attention to existing products and services. A seasonal theme can drum up business and maintain excitement for several months.

  2. Have a sidewalk sale or event. Warm sunny days and pleasant evenings put customers in celebration mood. Provide a promotional giveaway, free samples, a bonus product, or discount. Throw a themed event with refreshments to attract and entice sales.

  3. Sponsor an event. Local events are always looking for sponsors which provide the perfect opportunity to soft sell your product or service and promote your brand. (Events like these also offer ample content for social media.)

  4. Social media giveaway. Hosting a social media giveaway will drive traffic to your pages and increase brand awareness. Relate the giveaway to your core business, track entries with a hashtag, and be specific about the reward and how and when you will select the winner. Mirror your giveaway at a brick and mortar location and follow up on the resulting rich list of (qualified) prospects.

  5. Say thanks. Show your appreciation to key clients by offering a discount or other appropriate gesture to let them know you are thinking about them this summer and will be there in the months ahead.

Warm weather months and longer days are ripe for increased foot (or virtual) traffic and an ideal time to rethink strategy and attract new business before cooler days inevitably return.
